#1 Cause of Sickness

Bad Nutrition.

What our shopping baskets should look like

We recognize that with the growing awareness on health and fitness, different diet regimes has been one of the attractions for celebrities, youngsters, older generations and everyone in between, in order to seek a better lifestyle.

There are many benefits to making small changes in our lifestyle. For example, you may be able to relate to or know someone who had skin issues or asthma and when they omitted a particular food, their skin or asthma cleared up? Maybe it was the gluten? Sinus issues, lots of mucus? Nutrition plays a big part in our overall health.

So, where does one start on their health journey?

There is no need to stop consuming the foods and drinks you love, just swap it for a healthier alternative.

- Most cereals are laden with sugar. Not only does this add to the overall calories consumed, but it can lead to a mid-morning sugar slump which will have you craving more. Instead, try starting your morning with a bowl of oatmeal, which is not only packed with nutrients but is a good source of slow-release energy that will fill you up quicker and keep you feeling full for longer.

- Many snack bars are packed with cane sugar, corn syrup and saturated fat. In fact, cereal bars can contain as much fat, sugar and calories as a chocolate bar or a couple of biscuits. If you fancy a sweet snack between meals, reach for a piece of fruit instead and save yourself over 100 calories and your body will know how to process it.

- While potatoes contain great nutrients, sweet potatoes may be a better option for those

wanting to lose a few kilos. Potatoes are high on the glycemic index, so can lead to energy

slumps and cravings, sweet potatoes are a complex carbohydrate with a much lower GI ranking. Sweet potatoes are packed with vitamins and minerals including antioxidant beta-carotene. Try swapping your spud for a baked sweet potato, and chips for sweet potato wedges.

- Fizzy drinks or soft drinks for example contains approx 3.3 tablespoons, of sugar sometimes more Consuming such large quantities of sugar elevates your blood glucose levels. Many sodas contain high fructose corn syrup as their primary sugar ingredient which may stress the pancreas and lead to fluctuating blood sugar levels. Swap it for a Heal Thy Soda! The fizzy drink with benefits. This fruit infused apple cider vinegar beverage still has the fizziness as a soft drink but all the benefits from the ACV and no sugar!
